The Macleay now has
some anabranches- wide channels that only carry water when it is
flooding. This one is at 93119/06579.

This is the biggest
clump of cedars I know on the upper Macleay-I think there are only 7
mature trees. The early 1800s saw a ‘rush’ for the ‘Red Gold’, and
much of it was cut out then.

Looking UP the Macleay
from 942/068, the big scree is the landmark that leads you to the
cedars growing along its lower edge.

This year (2011) wild
pig numbers have zoomed in the Apsley/Macleay system- hence the
extensive area ploughed up at 939/066.
